Self Employment Health Insurance by Selected Benefits

Finding self employment health insurance can seem like a challenge. It really isn’t, just request a Texas Health Insurance Quote here and let’s get started.

This type of health insurance is readily available to some, but to others, such as those that have pre-existing health conditions, it can be hard to find a suitable self employed health insurance plan. If you are self employed, or a sole proprietor, you may need to weigh the options you have for health care coverage. Self employed health insurance is available, but it’s imperative that you have a knowledgeable agent who can help you choose the plan that best fits your needs and the insurance carrier that will treat you the most liberally during underwriting based on your pre-existing conditions (if any).

A Few Options You Have

Here are a few options you have for self employed health insurance: Purchase a policy as an individually underwritten plan available openly on the market. This is the best choice, in most situations, for those that have a good family history of health. There are a variety of self employed health insurance products to choose from, with different benefits and coverage, so you will be able to choose the right one for you. The right insurance plan provides an adequate amount of coverage for you and your family.

Another option regarding health insurance for the self employed or for those just moving from an employer based plan is COBRA, or Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. If you have been working for an employer with more than twenty employees and leave, COBRA is a type of health care product that can bridge you into the next option. You'll need to pay the health insurance premiums plus the amount that the employer you just was contributing. The benefit for some self employed individuals is if you haven't let your coverage lapse, you may be able to get into the individual market for a new health care plan without pre-existing conditions. For the self employed, this can be highly effective. Since COBRA can be very expensive, it’s best to try an individual or family health insurance plan first. You have 60 days to elect COBRA, so this gives us more than enough time to place you with a less expensive alternative.

Another option for self employed health insurance is to use the Texas health insurance risk pool. If you have certain, severe pre existing medical conditions or have been previously declined (or had an exclusion waiver) for individual health insurance, this may be your best bet.

Self employed health insurance options may seem limiting, yet, those without self employed health insurance (or no insurance at all), run the risk of losing out on proper healthcare.

In The News: Employer Health Insurance

The efficient functioning of a company is possible only if your staff works hard and well at their tasks. To work well, the health of the staff has to be optimal, which is possible by offering some type of health insurance to your employees. One such insurance option you have for your employees is providing them with employer health insurance.

In The News: Personal Health Care Insurance

Of the many health insurance choices available today, one of the more popular options is private health insurance policies.
